Here’s a summary of my evaluation criteria: I was hoping to be encouraged here if I would see that many people are doing well with their Squidoo lenses… without facing any technical problems.Get free tool advice Performance Management Tools: Comparison Criteria Three of my lenses disappeared because of this problem and until the reason was finally discovered, I could not edit any of my lenses.Īll my enthusiasm disappeared at once. ![]() This is why I immediately gave up spending my time in the creation of Squidoo lenses after facing the problem with the modules. If you’ll lose them for one reason or another, nobody cares. I saw that when you use free platforms, you cannot protect your creations. I lost 4 blogspot blogs in 2009 because they were infected by malware when a hacker got my passwords, and Blogger never cared about helping me recuperate them. I was too enthusiastic with the creation of my lenses when I had this problem with the Lulu module… There are many different applications for what I sell, so the Squidoo lenses are ideal for showing to the public all the available options. I like Squidoo because I have the possibility to promote my work through many different ways. However, if it is basically safe, Squidoo is a wonderful way to spread my links online, besides promoting other products. I’m afraid to create 100 lenses and then have to make changes on them all the time, or have technical problems with them, etc. When I built my second good lens I had posted many interesting articles about my topic, however I had to delete 10 articles because now Squidoo doesn’t allow the same link in a lens more than 10 times. I had to remove the Lulu module from 8 lenses and then put something else in its place… So, I was thinking that if I had to do so in 100 lenses this would be really painful…Īnother problem is that Squidoo keeps changing its rules. The content of my lenses is very good, but I’m really afraid to put too much effort on creating them and then have to face problems like the one I had with the modules. However, Squidoo provides us a passive income as well. I’m using Squidoo mainly to drive traffic to my websites. You will be much better off in the long run. I strongly recommend buying your own domains and getting your own hosting. They can take you down any time they want! When you build your primary source of income on web 2.0 platforms, you are at the mercy of the sites to keep your content up. I know a guy who had a web 2.0 page making $2,000 per month, but his competitors started flagging the page, and the site took down his web 2.0 property without any legitimate explanation. I built my Squidoo lenses when I first started a few years ago, but I would never rely on Squidoo for any major income today. You are taking the risk of Squidoo pulling down your pages for any reason they want once you have everything up. I make a little money from Squidoo every month, but I wouldn't recommend spending a lot of time with it. However I stopped creating them because I had a problem with the Lulu module, which I had to remove from all my lenses, and I saw that we basically depend on the Squidoo system.ĭo you know anything about Squidoo lenses? Should I build many lenses and become a Giant Squid? Or do you think that this would be an uncertain adventure? I created 4 lenses in a very short period of time now that I learned how to work on them, while I had delayed a century to create my first good lenses. My main purpose is to send traffic to my websites, but it's nice to be able to sell other things in the lenses at the same time, since they are mini-websites. Hi! I started working seriously on Squidoo lenses recently.
